Match report

Saturday was the 3rd and last leg of finnish 7's championship. After winning the first two legs of the competition, and still unbeaten, the Miniguns traveled to Porvoo with two objectives: bring home the trophy and stay unbeaten.

The day started against Espoo Ice Bears who made their first appearance in 7's this season. After a few minutes of sloppy play the Miniguns tidied up and started passing the ball around. After that, Espoo were in the spectators seat as Miniguns took a 49-5 victory. One of the Espoo player's said "Well, that was a lesson!", as the teams shook hands!

Next up, Miniguns met their arch enemy Warriors. 60-0 score for the Guns after some point on kicking from Bam, excellent chasing from Ronan, Dario and Wertti and overall good team performance.

Miniguns were looking strong after a good start. Host team Porvoo tried to slow the Miniguns down, but commited a few crucial handling errors trying to keep pace. Miniguns took another convincing victory - 31-7.

Linna RC, who entered the tournament ranked second, came with a lot of good intentions and a good fighting spirit. Miniguns would not be rattled, and although the score remained tight until halftime, the Miniguns pulled it together and ran away for a 33-15 win.

So, here we were. One game left in the season, still unbeaten and Championship in our pocket. What a better opponent to play than our very own HRC Tiger Cubs? The Cubs had had an awesome day so far picking up their first 3 wins of the season, and playing to take home the entire tournament. It was the toughest battle of the day, as the Cubs left it all on the field. The game was tight until the last whistle. Miniguns took the win (31-12), but the most important thing was the great spirit between the two HRC sides, friends and brothers going at it for 15 minutes and then cheerfully hugging it out and celebrating all together!!!

So the Miniguns ride into the sunset as champions, after an unbeaten season! We'll be back for more in 2017!!! And special thanks from everybody in the Miniguns and Tiger Cubs squads go to Coach Bam!!! You made us CHAMPIONS!!!
