Match report

HRC hosted the first leg of the 7's Championship in Lohja. We entered 2 teams as interest in 7's has grown massively in HRC.

Miniguns started the day against our arch enemy Warriors, and this matchup was definetly making players nervous before kickoff. That nervousness was carried into the game with players forgetting our patterns and trying too much to go solo. After a team talk at halftime and some better play all round, Miniguns cruised to a comfortable 27-0 win. The second game saw us go against the heavy forward orientated Jyväskylä team. Support in breakdowns was great and passing was quick, which eventually helped us move the ball wide and run around JRC instead of constantly hitting a brick wall... Score 43-7.

The battle to win the pool came down to a tough game against Kuopio. But Miniguns eliminated Kuopio's biggest threat, the 9 - 10 combo and cruised to a comfy 48-5 win and through to the semis.

The semi was against last year's runner-up Porvoo OTS. Everyone expected a tougher fight, but once again good support play and nice passes put the guns to the final with a ridiculous 60-7 win.

The final was a rematch against the big hearted Kuopio team. Everybody was starting to feel tiredness and soreness from the long day. What a relief at the final whistle with the score set at 33-10! A first leg victory and time to focus for Åland!

All in all it was a great team effort, and the Miniguns were clearly the best prepared team on the day. A lot of work is still to be done for the Miniguns to take home the big trophy... And our pattern remains yet to be seen properly in play...

Next stop, Åland!!!!

Fun facts: Miniguns scored 34 tries in 70 minutes of play. I guess (almost) everybody crossed the line except me. Iikka had an outrageous 7 try day. No player of the day selected, as it was a team victory. Miniguns were still missing a few starters.
